Federal Trade Commission vs. VYLAH TEC LLC. et al. Civil Action No. 2: l7‐cv‐228‐FtM‐99MRM, U.S., District Court. Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division.
Vtec is primarily a technical support help center, which was handling between 600 and 1200 calls daily, and provided technical support for the use of personal computers and other electronic devices. A Temporary Restraining Order was issued by the District Court on 05/02/2017 (“TRO”), appointing m as receiver, and alleging, among other things, false security “pop‐up” warnings directing consumers to contact VTec who would access the PC via remote login and convince the unsuspecting consumer that they needed hundreds of dollars of software. Further allegations included misrepresentation of training and certifications as well as a predatory sales program necessitated by a failed business model. KapilaMukamal remains in place pending the outcome of the litigation. Three receiver reports were submitted to the District Court. The District Court subsequently issued a permanent injunction.
